Concord, VT

The Town of Concord is a full-service government entity with a Board of Selectmen, Town Clerk and Zoning & Planning commission.

Concord, Vermont is a town in Essex County, just east of St. Johnsbury and the junction of I-91 & I-93. Concord is located in the beautiful and scenic "Northeast Kingdom" of Vermont, an area that National Geographic selected as part of their geotourism program for sustainable destinations. The town contains the villages of North Concord and Miles Pond.

The Concord area is ideal for year-round recreation activities, including skiing at nearby Burke Mountain, and boating, swimming, & fishing during the warmer months. Of course, don't forget the spectacular display of color during the fall foliage season!

Civic Structure
Concord was chartered on September 15, 1780 by Dr. Reuben Jones from Rockingham and a group of associates, several of whom were named Willard. Dr. Jones served as a representative to the Vermont Legislature. In 1784, the first meeting of the proprietors was held at the Inn of Jehial Webb in Rockingham to make plans to view and lay out the town, which contained about 47 square miles. In 1856, the area now known as North Concord was annexed to Concord.
