- Just minutes from interstates 91 and 93 is Vermont's best-kept secret, Burke Mountain of Vermont, offering a 2,000 foot vertical drop, 43 trails and glades, 75 percent snowmaking coverage and 1/2 pipe and terrain park.
One of Burke Mountain's great features is its location, an unspoiled wilderness area that's renowned for its natural beauty... even among Vermonters.
Although Burke is in a pristine area, there are plenty of services, restaurants and activities nearby, and the ski area is only seven miles from exit 23 off Interstate 91.
This makes Burke one of New England's easiest resorts to get to - 3 hours from Boston, 3.5 hours from Hartford, Conn., and 5.5 hours from New York City.
And when you get to Burke, you won't find any long lift lines. Located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, this 2,000-foot vertical-drop mountain also serves as the training mountain of Burke Mountain Academy.
Burke Mountain Academy (BMA) has been turning athletes into Olympic skiers since 1970. Eleven BMA graduates were members of the U.S. Olympic Ski Team in the 1994 Olympics. The fact that this renowned academy, which stresses excellence both on the slopes and in the classroom, uses Burke Mountain as its training ground speaks volumes about the quality of Burke Mountain.

The winter season is here and we are geared up and ready for a snow filled season. There are lots of exciting new additions to our Nordic operations and we are looking forward to serving you this winter. There will be TWO systems in which to ski and snowshoe this season, both the Darling Hill Trails and the Burke Trails will be maintained. We will open the trails as soon as there is enough snow for us to groom and you to enjoy! We have moved our Center from the old location on the Pinkham Road to the end of the Dashney Road. Located off the Mountain Road, just past the Burke Mountain Base Lodge on the left, the new location is easier to get to and a more suitable to base our operations out of. The trailhead for the Darling Hill Nordic System is still located at the Children's Theater parking lot, down the road from the Wildflower Inn on Darling Hill Road.
