St. Johnsbury and Lyndonville do not operate nor do they have a designated secondary school for its student population beyond grade 8. It should be noted that the vast majority of St. Johnsbury’s and Lyndonville's high school students attend St. Johnsbury Academy and Lyndon Institute, respectively.

St. Johnsbury Academy is a comprehensive independent secondary school serving a wide range of students. The Academy serves as the area technical school. Since the Academy serves both as a day and boarding school, it provides its students with culturally rich experience academically, culturally, and athletically. During the summer, the AP Institute brings in around 500 students from around the country. For contact information regarding St. Johnsbury Academy: www.stjacademy.org .

Lyndon Institute is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school, enrolling students in grades 9-12, with courses in college preparatory, business and technical education, as well as a strong arts program. LI offers over 130 courses at four levels, Division II athletics and 20 extracurricular organizations, providing opportunities in the arts, scholastics and leadership.

The remaining students attend other relatively local secondary schools including:

Burke Mountain Academy in East Burke (www.burkemtacademy.org)

Blue Mountain Union High School in Wells River (www.bmuschool.org.)

Concord High School (www.concordvtschool.com.)

Caledonia School (at the old Arlington School building) – a state-approved independent day school for grades 9-12. A secondary diploma is available. The annual enrollment is 30-35 students who come from the immediate area towns, including New Hampshire. The web site is in the process of development.
