The St. Johnsbury Office of Economic and Community Development (OECD) department of Town government was established in 1996.
Its purpose is to enhance the community by providing a full range of professional services to other departments of town government, to existing businesses, to prospective business start-ups and to new businesses and individuals who plan on establishing professional or commercial enterprises in St. Johnsbury.
OECD also makes grant proposals to federal and State agencies and administers grants on behalf of the town for community and economic development.
Over the past 10 years, the town has received more than $3.25 million of direct funding for a wide variety of activities, including public facilities, housing, planning and business loans.
OECD also administers the St. Johnsbury/Lyndon Revolving Loan Fund and a Neighborhood Improvement Program downtown loan program.
