Clovis Program at ROOTS School
8 - 4 PM. Cost: $1500. A deposit of $300 is due the time of registration. The balance of the tuition can then be paid either at the start of the program on or in three payments of $400 throughout the program. In September 2009 Roots School began its first year of the Clovis program. The Clovis people were the great masters of the hunt, living through the last ice age 12,000 years ago through their skill, strength, and community. The Clovis Program is focused on the ancient human lineage of hunting and tracking and the lessons it has to teach us. The program takes place on location at Roots School, one day a week, from September to June. Each week the students will be guided to further their education of indigenous hunting including: - Hunting Ethics and Caretaking - Wildlife Tracking - Bird Language - Ecology and Natural History - Primitive Weapons-Throwing Sticks, Atl-Atls, Bows, Spears, Bolas, Slings - Survival Traps-Deadfalls and Snares - Skinning, Cleaning, and Processing Game - Hearth Cooking - Hide Tanning - Leather Working - Bone Carving & more. It is the mission of the Clovis Program to bring children on the cusp of being young adults into a deeper relationship with their communities, both wild and human, through the roll of the provider. In learning these skills students may cultivate personal strength and understanding of oneself such as it has been across the earth and the ages. |
