State Auto & Driver's: Newcomers to the state must purchase
Vermont driver's and motor vehicle licenses immediately upon establishment
of residence. These may be obtained from the:
Vermont Dept. of Motor Vehicles 120 State St. Montpelier, VT 05602
(802) 828-2121

A driver's license is valid, depending on your choice, for either two (2) or
four (4) years. Written, oral, vision and driving exams are required for
first Vermont license. A certificate of title is required as prerequisite to
registration of motor vehicles: vehicles over 15 years old do not require
titles.
Passenger car trailers are also required to be licensed and must comply with
state regulations as to lighting, brakes and hitch. Motor vehicle inspection
is required once a year.
Motorcycles: Endorsement of regular license required.
Pets: Each community has dog control and licensing ordinances. Dogs
and cats are required to have rabies inoculations. Check with appropriate
town clerk where licenses may be obtained, or visit a local veterinarian.
