Climate Change:" the Science and the Skeptics

The science of climate change, both theory and evidence, shows that the earth is warming and that this warming is primarily due to human activity.  After presenting this science, Joe Alper will argue that we should accept this science as true and therefore are justified in acting to slow aand eventually reverse global warming.  Finally, he will evaluate the various arguments of the skeptics and deniers.



Dr. Joe Alper is Professor Emeritus of chemistry at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.  His interest in climate change dates from the 1970's when he taught about global warming in a course called "Science for Humane Survival."

The Guardian Since its inception in August 2002, Le Vent Du Nord have been enjoying meteoric success. Lunenburg Flea Market

Area vendors and shoppers are invited to the Lunenburg Flea Market, held every other Saturday through September 23rd from on the Lunenburg Common.



The Flea Market will offer local treasures of all kinds, quality handcrafts, and local agricultural products. Shoppers will find some of the vendors and products they enjoyed over the past years at the Lunenburg Farmers Market plus all the wonderful surprises a flea market contains! There is plenty of on street parking, picnic tables, portable toilet, and an adjacent playground to make your shopping experience a pleasure.

This market is sponsored by the Top of the Common Committee as a fundraising effort to support their on-going restoration of the buildings at the top of the Lunenburg Common

Beautiful Night: An Evening of Songs

Local favorite Heidi Lauren has directed gala concerts all over the United States and collaborated with producing venues in Spain, Italy, Hungary, and France. Now she turns her copious talents to the Highland Center with a special night of music featuring special guests soprano Deborah Selig and tenor Gregory Zavracky.



This two hour concert will feature songs of many styles to suit many desires. You'll be entranced by the music of Strauss, Duparc and Weill, with classic art songs, arias, American songs and new works based on the poetry of Carl Sandberg. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for students, and $5 for EBT cardholders.
