Willoughby State Forest Equestrian Access Expansion
Date: Tuesday, April 30, 2024
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
We are excited to announce an important opportunity for public engagement regarding the proposed amendment of the Willoughby State Forest Long Range Management Plan, specifically focusing on expanding equestrian access within the forest.
Developed in collaboration with the Vermont Horse Council, this proposed amendment seeks to enhance equestrian opportunities in Willoughby State Forest while ensuring sustainable land management practices. The key aspects of the amendment include plans to open approximately 14.5 miles of existing roads and trails for equestrian use and to establish a new overnight parking area in the southern portion of the forest.
We are hosting a public meeting on April 30th from 6-8 pm at the Sutton Village School (95 Underpass Road, Sutton, VT 05867.) This meeting will provide a platform for discussions and presentations regarding the proposed amendments. Additionally, we welcome feedback from April 30 to May 31, 2024, during the public comment period.
