Leadership NEK

Leadership NEK

Supporting rising community leaders and strengthening connections across the Northeast Kingdom.

Leadership NEK is designed to support rising community leaders and strengthen connections that inspire collaborative, system-level approaches to creating meaningful and lasting change across businesses, organizations, and communities throughout the Northeast Kingdom.

This 9-month program provides participants with opportunities to grow as leaders, expand their perspectives, and deepen their understanding of the region they call home. Through topic focused monthly sessions, conversations with established leaders, hands-on experiences, and mentorship opportunities, participants explore the opportunities, challenges, and organizations shaping the NEK. Along the way, participants build lasting relationships, gain valuable insight from community mentors, and work on a meaningful project that creates impact and contributes to the future of the Northeast Kingdom.

  • Improving understanding of various economic, social and political forces impacting the community.
  • Providing a network of new community talent for service on public and private boards, agencies, organizations, and associations.
  • Development of individual soft skills including public speaking, time management, strategic decision-making, conflict resolution.
  • Providing leadership skills, including leading a team, managing up and down, collaborative, decision-making, leading volunteers, and more.
  • Creating an opportunity to enact newly learned skills and knowledge through a comprehensive and impactful project.

Personal Discovery:

The DiSC personality assessment, a valuable tool for personal discovery, will be used to enhance self-awareness and leadership development. By identifying individual communication styles, strengths, and areas for growth, DiSC empowers leaders to adapt their approach, build stronger connections, and effectively motivate others, essential skills for success in any leadership role.
