The 2027 legislative session begins in January, and this is the moment to get ahead of it.
On Tuesday, December 1 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, we're partnering with the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and the Vermont Futures Project to host a Legislative Preview session — open exclusively to NEK Chamber members in person or via Zoom.
This brings us to one month past Election Day and one month out from the start of session. That makes this a particularly useful window: the election results are in, the incoming Legislature is taking shape, and there's still time to get organized before bills start moving.
Why this matters
We've invited area legislators to attend. This is your chance to be in the room with them — and with the Vermont Chamber's advocacy team — to share what you're seeing on the ground. Workforce challenges, regulatory pressure, housing, costs — whatever is affecting your ability to operate and grow, this is the forum to raise it.

You'll also receive resource materials designed to help you engage effectively with legislators throughout the session.
The presenting team includes:
Amy Spear, President of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, whose proven track record of engaging diverse stakeholders delivers successful outcomes for the Vermont business community.
Megan Sullivan, the Vermont Chamber's Vice President of Government Affairs, who leads their advocacy work across housing, land use, health care, and employment law.
Kevin Chu, Executive Director of the Vermont Futures Project, who brings data-driven research on the economic trends shaping Vermont's future.
They are joined by additional members of the Vermont Chamber's government affairs and policy team.
